Cortland Partners purchased Highland Club Apartments on October 15, 2010. The 212 unit property went through a foreclosure and receivership that created a great opportunity to rehabilitate a distressed asset. Buckhaven Construction has completed the renovation of 28 apartment interiors, as well as the exteriors of 3 buildings. The exterior renovations are transformational, including new roofs, gutters, breezeway architecture, windows and doors.

With this transformation, the property is being rebranded The Woodridge Apartments, which will include all new project signage, marketing materials and strategy. Highland Club seemed to some to be at the end of its life‐cycle, but Cortland Partners recognized its value. The previous owner, Miles Properties, purchased the property in 2001. At that time, they preformed a modest rehab, including the conversion of the units from natural gas water heaters and furnaces to all electric. This infrastructure is expensive and complicated; but now being complete, Cortland is able to invest in the architecture and interior finishes, which are improvements that prospective residents value.

The Woodridge Apartments will be an address that Decatur Residents will aspire to, as the transformation on the property continues, the large floor plans and family‐oriented unit mix will ensure that this once distressed property enjoys a prosperous future.
